Focus
Variances in barriers and readiness to adopt across contexts and cultures.

Goals:

  • Identify key stakeholder groups for whom social, cultural and commercial differences may exist in perceptions of digital security and the barriers to adoption.

  • Analyse attitudes towards hardware vulnerabilities expressed in online social media.

  • Explain the variance in factors that influence the propagation of opinions around adoption, resistance, and perceptions of risk.

  • Identify differences between the narratives expressed in sectoral literature and online social spaces, and actual behaviour in practice.

  • Understand the statistical relationship between public policy on cybercrime reduction and stakeholder perception; and between the regulatory landscape and the uptake and adoption of cybercrime prevention mechanisms by business.
